Christmas 2021

 2021 Newsletter

This years "newsy" letter is a little shorter than previous years due to several reasons.

January started with limited activities.

Late last year Anne was diagnosed with Stage 1 breast cancer.  After  the surgery she began 3 months Chemo starting in January.  Followed by 20 treatments of radiation.  There was also a 12 month immunotherapy she completed December 16!  There was a happy dance after all the treatments were completed!

Anne continued to play crib and bridge online and I was able to go snowmobiling in our local mountain area (Graystokes Provincial Park). We both continued to join the YMCA online "senior" exercise programs.

We postponed our Puerto Vallarta get-together trip in February due to Covid 19 and Anne's cancer treatments.  Anne's mom had a collection of 8MM movies from the '60's & '70's that we had converted to DVD... brought back many memories!

Spring and warmer temps finally arrived but activities were still limited.

Our daughter Lisa and oldest grandson Hendrix were able to visit the last two weeks of June.  This was wonderful and long overdue.  Lisa participated in a course at the Kelowna General Hospital.  Unfortunately we experienced record high temperatures and wild fire smoke that limited outdoor activities.  We did hook up the RV and took in 'staycations' in Oliver and Rock Creek for golfing, biking and sightseeing.

We did get to spend limited time with our son Bill, (long haul truck driver, living in Edmonton) for lunches/dinner when he was passing through Merritt & Kamloops.

In spite of heat and smoke I was able to partake in a few 'brown bag' fly outs to local airports and flight seeing in my Cessna 185 (Grandpa's Wagon).  Our visitors and travelling  were limited due to the ongoing health limitations.

In October our Kelowna Curling Club was allowed to open and I joined Men's Senior League after a year away.  Anne continued to enjoy online card games with friends.

We were able to fly to Yellowknife at Thanksgiving for a 'Family Reunification'!  Hendrix (14) is 6'4" and 220 lbs.  Owen (12) and Avery (10) are growing up all to quickly.  We had a great visit and enjoyed a day trip to their cabin on Tibbet Lake.

Anne and I are staying home for Christmas and planning to BBQ a small turkey.  Lisa and her family are also staying home for Christmas.  Bill will probably be somewhere on the highway.   Hopefully we will all be able to be together next Christmas.

Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year

Larry and Anne
